Nancy Zarenda, founder and director, is a nationally recognized language educator and language policy specialist who assists the public and private sectors in maximizing Spanish language skills and multilingual policy formation. She has been featured on Univision, in Latino Journal, Language Magazine and the Sacramento Bee.
Ms. Zarenda’s teaching experience spans public schools, community colleges, police academies, businesses, and non-profit organizations in the U.S. and abroad. She is an adjunct Spanish instructor at Lake Tahoe College, and designed and directed Spanish for Peace Officers at Rio Hondo College, the largest police academy in California. She was formerly a California Court Certified Interpreter working in Los Angeles and Santa Ana County Courts. Other projects include language and culture consulting on racial profiling curriculum for Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission, and on multilingual consumer issues for the Public Utilities Commission.
Special Congressional recognition as Outstanding Hispanic American Educator was awarded to Nancy during National Hispanic Heritage Month in 2005. She received the Champion of Diversity Award from the Latino Journal, and was formerly appointed by the governor to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Nancy has studied, worked and volunteered throughout Latin America and Spain. She serves on state, national and international boards and councils.
Associate Instructor – Victor is back from Mexico!
Victor Reyes, Spanish language and cross cultural specialist, is an instructor in northern California where he teaches language, Latino culture and history, and conversation courses in the Summer Spanish Institute at Lake Tahoe College. Victor, fondly known as “don Juan Tenorio”, is an expert in Spanish theater and music, and is recognized statewide for his theatrical performances and Spanish courses.
